Break.com wanted something where an exterminator is killed by traps. Dave wrote and directed. James was the Director of Photography. No time for 3D VFX, so we did it all in-camera.

Music Video Booth SuicideSomething’s wrong with us. Ghostlight did the Cinematography and Visual Effects for this disturbing short by Invisible Engine. Chris’ character shoots himself in one of those old theme park music video booths. First, we added blood effects in full quality. Then the green was replaced (poorly) by some iPhone video. Then we ran it through a VHS deck while messing with tracking. Alfred Montejano created the VHS audio flaws. Starring Chris Cantwell, Matt Wyatt, Sean Bury, and Hesley Harps.

TITLEKevin Shahinian already had a beautiful opening title shot for his film City of Lakes, and asked Ghostlight to provide text to match. We worked with Bentlight Digital, who did the original Visual Effects shot, to incorporate our 3D title, which was eventually swapped for simpler 2D text. Thanks to Kevin and the guys at Bentlight for their collaboration.

My Best Friend's DoctorGhostlight provided three animations for MyBestFriendsDoctor.org, a non-profit online healthcare community. It is founded by Andrew Kaiser, who also composed the music for our Intro Reel and Cinematography Reel. Ghostlight created the word “Broken” crumbling and falling to the ground, the pull-back revealing the web address, and the fluttering swarm of cash. Enjoy!

Fireside ChatDirector Chris Cantwell needed Cinematography and Visual Effects for this very strange self-interview portion of a reel submission. It’s a fairly basic “split-screen” technique until Chris walks in front of himself, casting and receiving his own shadow.

Pacific Pictures LogoWe created this logo for Kevin Shahinian’s company Pacific Pictures. Based on his existing 2D graphic, we built the film reel, ocean, mountains, and sky in 3D and designed the camera movement. After much finessing, the objects were surfaced, lit, rendered, and given subtle shine glows. The final result has enough resolution for projection in cinemas. Thanks to Kevin for the fun project!

See the logo used in Kevin’s film City of Lakes! We also did the City of Lakes Title!
